<PT. VI> Abortion Rights in America: The Trump Effect

joshpressjakes.substack.com

This is the sixth and final and installment of “Abortion Rights in America”.

(Unless something else crazy happens around this debate…which, you never know!)

There are plenty of people who actually are no fans of Trump, but love the fact that he’s the avatar of an Evangelical Christian agenda. *The fact that the federal government no longer recognizes a woman’s right to an abortion nationwide*, makes Trump an instrument of God in their book, and they are willing to look past the (incredibly, seriously, uniquely, and fatally) flawed man, that helped them deliver on banning abortion.

Many of you who read my piece on Moral issue Voters were hung up on what God’s Will actually means in certain circles. My intention wasn’t to write a piece that was overly critical of your most hard core “pro-lifers”, but was rather trying to shed light on that type of thinking.

Something secular America misses about religious America, is the fact that not everyone on planet earth is living for this world. Rather, many people are living their life much more focused on the after-life. Keep in mind that I do fundamentally believe we humans all have a moral compass (some stronger than others), which creates an innate sense of “right” and “wrong” each one of us holds. But, to be more concerned with the next world, and not focus on making this world better, sadly has not served us particularly well.

<PT. II> Abortion Rights in America: “Moral issue” voters don't believe in such a thing as an "unwanted pregnancy”
This is Part II on a multi-part series on “Abortion Rights” in America. The Peace Corps is often called the Army for Hippies. I was in the Peace Corps in Zambia (2008-2010). While this little known fact about my service to America is relevant to this story, it isn’t the central component of it, by any stretch. But, to better understand one’s own home …

My earliest piece “On Abortion and Adoption”, focusing on the tragic case of the ten-year-old-girl, having to cross State lines in order to have a procedure, definitely created the biggest backlash among conservative folks in various chat groups. I can actually understand why conservatives hate the politicization of that young girl getting raped (by incest) and being impregnated. It cuts right at the core of why abortions are necessary.

<PT. I> Abortion Rights in America: It's much easier to get pregnant in America than it is to adopt a child
This is Part I on a multi-part series on “Abortion Rights” in America. The results of abortion rights no longer being protected by federal law, has had reverberations throughout the country. States like NY, California, as well as most of the States that comprise New England and other more liberal-minded States, are considered safe-havens for women to te…

To confront this fact causes people to actually have to think about abortion in terms that are not simply a matter of “Heaven” and “Hell” or “Good” versus “Evil”. Rather, it forces people to see abortion as not just a matter of protecting an unborn child, but also protecting vulnerable women/girls who are (potentially) about to be a mother through no choice of their own.

Unfortunately, conservative leaning America and all their influencers brain-washed mainstream America into thinking that activist judges were only a thing of the left. Far from it, actually! Donald Trump staked his whole election in 2016 on running for President by appointing judges who would overturn Roe v. Wade.

I discussed in a prior piece how Trump was able to ram in three Supreme Court Judges on his watch.  In one of my most recent pieces on this topic, I discussed at length how this current Supreme Court and Justice Samuel Alito in particular (with the drafting of his majority opinion for the court) just trampled on “prior precedent” and “stare decisis”.

<PT.IV> Abortion Rights in America: How the Supreme Court got abortion wrong in 2022
This is the fourth installment of “Abortion Rights” in America. In the year 2022, I wonder how the heck did we get here? In 2012, President Obama’s signature legislative achievement - “The Affordable Care Act”, famously known as “Obama Care”, was under attack. In fact the moment that piece of legislation was even being constructed as a draft, it was un…

For my other two pieces on this topic, I wrote one essay on how - Restricting abortion rights is turning more people into “Outlaws”. You might be surprised that Kansas (of all places, not The Wizard of Oz) being a battleground State for abortion rights.

<PT. III> Abortion Rights in America: Outlawing Abortion makes America more "Radical" not more "Conservative"
This is Part III on a multi-part series on “Abortion Rights” in America What America witnessed in Kansas last week, should be a wake-up call to the GOP…

The “Outlaw” piece, also discussed topics of prohibition and legalized marijuana, as well as  how legalized abortion in the 1970s dramatically brought down crime rates throughout America in the 1990s. A number of you had interesting questions about abortion and crime rates, therefore I wrote a follow-up piece on, The “Freakonomics” effect.

<PT. V> Abortion Rights in America: A closer (Freakier) look at how more abortions lowers crime.
This is the fifth installment of “Abortion Rights” in America. More abortions, lowers crime! This fact was discovered by none other than Stanford Law Professor - John J. Donohue III, and the University of Chicago economist - Steven D. Levitt. If this sounds familiar to you, one reason might be because Steven Levitt is the co-author of the very popular…

Also, on an unrelated note to Freakonomics but still somewhat freaky:

The whole idea of the illuminati controlling population growth in America does feel more like a tin-foil hat type argument, then something that is really happening. But, I still did give it passing mention in a prior piece.

“33- Has the illuminati or the bildenberg group played a role in outlawing abortion? Even though, not that long ago, the media and scientists used to always speak of over-population, now there is a concern for a stagnant population. Have the puppet masters outlawed abortion so we have more people being born in America?”   - Josh off Press Press - 41 Thoughts for 41 years
